Some observations and announcements from around La Cruz-

How popular is the Mercado Huanacaxtle Sunday Market at the Marina?  Wandering the market this morning I encountered an interview in progress; a reporter from Televisa TV was filming smack dab in the middle of the Mercado asking question of the Mercado organizers.  Each week that we move into high season, attendance jumps, much to the satisfaction of the vendors and organizors.  If you haven't been yet, you're missing out on the number one attraction in La Cruz de Huanacaxtle.

Lots of other happenings around town.  With the grand re-opening of Frascati in their new La Cruz Yacht Club location came the return of Sebastian who has off-and-on been maitre'd at Frascati over the past 7 years.  One of the owners' son, he also works at family restaurants in Guadalara and Leon.  He will be overseeing the opening of a "mariscos" (seafood) bar and restauarant to be located on upper deck of the Marina palapa building formerly occupied by the SkyBar.  Plans are to open mid-January.

Other good news came to us when we saw that the former 3 Palapas, which had closed over the summer is now re-opened as Las Palapas.  Former co-partner is now sole owner. Same menu with some enhancements should be good news to anyone who had frequented 3 Palapas last year.  Looking forward to returning for the great steaks and seafood. Live music and Happy Hour every Sunday at 7:00PM.

After the serious accident suffered by Octopus's Garden's Waylon Combes-Wright last spring, the facility closed down.  Over the past months Waylon's recovery has been slow but positive.  Friends and supporters have kept in contact and physical therapy is ongoing daily.  Saturday the 29th was Waylon's birthday and wife Aruna arranged a small gathering to celebrate with Waylon.  The best present of all is news that Octopus's Garden will be slowly resuming sales and events.  Their roasted Nayarit coffee is again available for sale, the Hichol gallery is open and plans for classes and events in the new upstairs salon are being planned.  Please stop by and say hi to Aruna and Waylon.

Roberto's Xocolatl restaurant on the Monte Calvario hillside on the mountain side of the highway has been packing the house every Sunday evening with the music of Al & Zoe, the Mango Duo.  If you haven't had a chance to taste Roberto's food and check out the view from up there or you haven't yet treated yourself to one of La Cruz's true musical treasures, get yourself up there.  Reservations 329 295 6080.  Amigos d La Cruz will be holding their Welcome Back Party at Roberto's this coming Wed. Dec. 3rd featuring Tatewari and Bryan Savage.
